DAVE’S COMPUTER IS DOWN

Thank you all for your concern about Dave Salmoni. He’s doing just fine, but has had some computer issues over the last several weeks that have prevented him from blogging. Those issues are being worked on and he should be blogging again soon.

In the meantime, we’ll be posting a few of Dave’s video logs to tide you over.

Thanks!

I sent a written letter to George after the March 25th show. You should ask him about it. I am traveling through Africa in the fall, and your insight would be amazing. Your work is so meaningful and fascinating, and after seeing the cubs, I am hooked on large cats.

    Cheers
    Elizabeth

I watch your shows and love your approach to Predators.

Well I am not just a fan. My name is KC, I have been studying alligator and crocidiles all of my life. On a trip in summer 08 I went to a reptile park Gatorland in Florida, USA. I did a trainer for the day program, and found a croc that I knew very little about. The Cuban Crocidile. I was raised in the deep south of the USA and these Cuban act nothing like anything I have even seen in gators. I found myself asking more and more questions about these amazing animals.

Cuban Crocs hunt in packs, climb very well, communicate among the pack, and can be trained to a point. A Disney animal park in FL has proven this. But how are these creatures planning their attacks, they attack like a pride from all directions. I find myself wanting to know more, but these animals are endagered, but what isn’t now a days…. Sadly…

But if these animals are not studied now, we will only be able to guess.

Like I said my name is KC. While at Gatorland I impressed the staff so much the GM Mike decided to ” Test” me. While I was on the back of an alligator Mike took the tape off of the jaws. I am an 5′3″ tall woman, this was a 6 foot gator. After Mike came up and asked if there was anything he could do to make my day better. I said, ” You can let me in with a Croc, I have never and would love the experence.” 5 minutes later I was walking into a Nile Croc enclosure with 4 nesting females and 1 13 foot male. I was in AWWWWW….. And in the reptile parks 50 year history I was and still am the ONLY guest EVER allowed in there.

I have many pictures feet from Niles with nothing but a wooden stick. I also get as much hands on time with large predators loving on wolves, tiger cubs, binturongs, and many more. I know I sound CRAZY, but I am just an animal lover. I would love to send you some pictures I have of all of my creature tours / trainer programs. I would do this full time, but I am a mother and my kids need me more for the time.
But I will end up working and playing with them soon.

    Thank you,
    KC

    Hi Dave!

i think your work is amazing! You inspire me to make a difference in this world. Your love and passion for wildlife and nature is truly visible!

When i was younger I spent a lot of time around animals..dogs, horses, etc..I loved it..when i played with friends, i always was either a dog, lion, horse or monkey.haha
when i was 10yrs old, i took care of a pony, who was my best friend..there is such deepness with animals and a connection i cant even always have with a human. even without spoken words there is communication, understanding and love. Heart of a Lioness touched my soul..i could go on and on haha

im fascinated with wildlife and wish some day i have the chance to experience where they come from and their presence. and maybe even somehow help to make a differnce..
So, if you ever honor an adventerous and open to learning person by taking them with on a documentary, I’d be more than ready too!!! who wouldn’t be :)

    love your documentaries,
    nicole

Okay, I am completely and utterly “hooked” on your show: ‘INTO THE PRIDE’!

Having the life-changing opportunity of exploring Kenya and Tanzania with my father (Dr. John Goddard: explorer/adventurer/lecturer) brought a life of Africa and the animals there, like no other place on Earth!

THANK YOU and Animal Planet for filming your incredible, 6 month experience of living with Brutus and his pride for the rest of us to thoroughly enjoy!

Hi Dave, I just started watching you on animal planet on Into the Pride and I love that show but unfourtunatley I start school this week and my night class is on Thursdays. Bummer, so I was wondering if there are going to be any reruns of the episodes so I can catch it later. Of course I’m a technosaur and do not have tivo. I can barely figure out my facebook or twitter. keep up the great work with the animals and I’m so very sorry to hear about Brutis. Thank you, Michelle Harding Chicago Illinois

amazing man…amazing….( I am just watching your show)
I salute you Dave. I wish I could be like you, and do something for wildlife animals in my own country (India). We already have lost many great and beautiful animals (Sumatran Rhinoceros, Cheetah, Snow Leopards and “Tiger, Indian vultures, Gharials etc (almost)” and its just a matter of time before many more are lost, FOREVER!.
World seriously need more people like you. There are 6.7 billion of us. Unless we get educated (from program like yours) soon we will only have pets….
    Thanxs for what you do.

    Hi Dave,

You admiration for big cats and other animals as well is unbelievable! I have always been a “Cat Person” myself - Not to be compared to “Cat People” ;-) LOL! I found that movie a bit extreme for my purr-sonality. (*_*) Anyway, how can I e-mail some questions?

    Gia

    Hi Dave, & AP,
hope u get this. 9/3/09. tonite is the final show. and i’m watching for the 2nd time. i’ll finish this when the show is over. but as of now, today, have u been able to do a follow up on Otis?

jeez, i just missed how that was invading YOUR space, Brutus, or Otis? i was thinking maybe all he wanted to do was come up and lay down, if he had, if had layed down next to u and the 4 wheeler, would have got off and sat down w/ him? touch him? jeezuss, scratch under his chin? hahaha chicken!

Dave, let us know how not only u are, but how the pride is and did u acomplish what u were there for. is the area govt. going to allow them to live? how about a follow up with Min-is-al,?? the young male that took your jacket?

I look forward to any thing here as to an update, and to u’r next production/adventure into our big/small cat world. thank you Dave. u have my email if u have time, if not then put out what u can to all of us. Jay
